Upper Eyelids Long Island
Conveniently located to serve Long Island
At Layliev Plastic Surgery in Long Island, we offer upper-eyelid blepharoplasty, also referred to as upper-eyelid surgery or an eye lift, for patients with drooping or withered looking eyelids who want to rejuvenate the appearance of their eyes. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. John Layliev specializes in aesthetic and reconstructive procedures of the eyes and focuses on providing our patients with natural-looking results from their upper-eyelids blepharoplasty.
What Is Upper-Eyelid Blepharoplasty?
Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is surgery that rejuvenates the appearance of your upper eyelids. Dr. Layliev removes excess skin and fat from your eyelids allowing you to look less tired and also freeing up your eyelid skin for eye shadow makeup. In patients that do not have excess fat pads, Dr. Layliev will only excise the excess skin. The incision is hidden in your upper eyelid crease. This will ensure that any post-surgical marks are well hidden so that the results of your procedure look as natural as possible.
Techniques for Upper-Eyelid Blepharoplasty
If your upper eyelids appear too hollow because of fat atrophy or previous fat excision, Dr. Layliev may suggest fat grafting (transfer of fat from one part of your body to another) to the space below your orbital rim to regain youthfulness. A droopy eyelid (blepharoptosis) is when your upper eyelid margin is lower then it should be, which portrays a very tired appearance. In patients with a noticeable droopy eyelid, Dr. Layliev values the importance of refining this anatomic consequence of aging during an upper eyelid blepharoplasty by refining the muscle in the upper eyelid.
Upper-eyelid blepharoplasty is often performed along with other facial rejuvenation procedures like a facelift, brow lift, or lower-eyelid blepharoplasty. Combining facial rejuvenation procedure provides more comprehensive results that can give the entire face a more youthful overall appearance. Dr. Layliev can recommend procedures that complement your upper-eyelid blepharoplasty during your consultation.
Recovering from Upper-Eyelid Blepharoplasty
Swelling and bruising are likely to occur and will subside over the course of the recovery period. Patients may experience some discomfort and pain which can be managed with medication to make the recovery process as comfortable as possible. Keeping the head elevated during the first few days of recovery can help to manage swelling.
After around a week, the sutures are removed from the upper eyelid. Patients are able to return to work after around two weeks. Any post-surgical marks will be well-hidden as the incisions were made along the natural creases of the upper eyelids.
The Cost of Upper-Eyelid Blepharoplasty
Upper-eyelid blepharoplasty is a personalized procedure. The amount of work needed will vary from patient to patient based on their aesthetic needs and their goals for the procedure. Dr. Layliev can address any question you may have regarding price and payment options for upper-eyelid blepharoplasty during the consultation.
